The unique geologic conditions and atmospheric changes happened since the glacial age gave origin to the creation of an interconnected system of caverns, cenotes (deep underground water reservoirs) and subterranean rivers.
These caverns were used by the ancient Mayas as a refuge from atmospheric phenomena and, above all, for their connection with the underworld. One of these mystical places is the ALUX, home of small magic beings called 'Aluxes', great guardians who form a part of this fantastic culture.
After years of restoration and planning of low ecological impact, we present to the public these humanity's heritage that waited thousands of years for your visit.
In these surroundings of true subterranean palaces, decorated with real singular stalactites and stalagmites, you will be able to enjoy a natural spectacle accompanied of a selection of regional and international cuisine, in an environment of music and pre-Hispanic dance.

ALUX HISTORY
This cave was discovered in 1994 by Mr. Roland and Sergio Calderon. After years of restoration and planning of low ecological impact. We would present the public with this heritage of humanity, with singular stalactites and stalagmites, which you can enjoy a natural spectacle.

THE CAVE
The unique geological and atmospheric changes have occurred since the Ice Age led to the formation of an interconnected system of caves, sinkholes and underground rivers.
These caves were used by the ancient Mayas as backup to atmospheric phenomena and, especially, for connection to the underworld.
One of these places is the ALUX mystics, abode of magical beings called Aluxes small, big guards who are part of this amazing culture.
The sprites are small Aluxes agile, light and playful, which protect the houses and cornfields of those who surrender and gives them food offerings. There are nothing but the old clay idols scattered archaeological sites from time to time come to life to take after his pranks. These little creatures, evil winds away and chase the pests.
CENOTES
Formed during the Pleistocene due to glaciation and sea-level fall that resulted. Many of the cenotes are within around a large underground river system that can end in the sea.
Cenotes are karst terrain depressions formed as a result of the collapse of the ceiling of caves and caverns left by the air that runs through the water.
These cenotes can be outdoors or staying still underground.
This structure is composed of highly permeable limestone crust, which makes all the rainwater in the absence of slope that facilitates horizontal flow, it is exercising a power filter and dissolving the rock, forming true underground galleries.
Which is anchored on a shallow soil profile, and rock strata.
The Mayans believed that cenotes were the doors to another world of joy and eternity.
The cenotes represent values that are windows only and type information: biological, geological, hydrological, archaeological and historical heritage.
Stalactite and stalagmite
This stone has become popular live like two names: stalactite and stalagmite.
The stalactites and stalagmites are formed when groundwater through areas formed by limestone rocks.
The first is a sort of elongated funnel that emerges from the roof of the cave from a crack through which water slides. In the latter, in their advance through the crack, surrounded by limestone, is added the aforementioned calcium carbonate, typically takes several decades to grow an inch.
The drops came down inside the stalactite just falling to the ground, it also deposited some of the accompanying waste water.
Thus, small spikes that sprout with the continuous drip from the ceiling are becoming higher and higher. They are the stalagmites, thick solid javelins which can grow to touch the pointed bottom of the stalactite. ROCKS OF MINERALS

Over millions of years, moisture penetrates the bones, shells or corals, breaking some of its component materials and leaving behind salts and other substances that subsequently harden, turning the stone remains, why are called "petrified".
Other times, the fossil may leave a "mold" in the mud, like a footprint or outline of your body. Over the years, the mud dried and hardened like rock preserving the marks until today.
